OTHER CARNIVALS
During the course of the season there are many carnivals and competitions in which an athlete may choose to compete. These carnivals are usually organised by an individual club. Details of carnivals held by other clubs in our Zone are published in our fortnightly newsletter. There is usually an entry fee involved and many charge and additional fee for entry on the day. Participation in these carnivals is not compulsory and entirely up to the individual. For any carnival our club tent is available for use.
ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS
SEE THE CLUB SECRETARY IF YOU WISH TO COMPETE AT ZONE
The Zone Championships are the first step for our little athletes towards eventual representation at the State Little Athletic Track and Field Championships. Zone Championships are held at Hunter Sports Centre, Glendale on the weekend of 11 & 12 December 2010.
Other Centres that compete in our Zone are:
Club Name Centre Number
Kotara South 215
Cardiff 89
Charlestown 88
East Lakes 75
Edgeworth 87
Macquarie Hunter 96
Southlakes 234
Westlakes 90
Windale 233
The method used to select children for Zone varies from Centre to Centre. At Kotara South all athletes are asked to nominate the preferred events in which they would like to compete. Each competitor shall be allowed to enter no more than four events. Under 13, 14 and 15 are "OPEN" ie. no restriction on number of our competitors in each event.
Under 7 competitors cease at Zone and Trophies are awarded to placegetters in each event.
The first 3 placegetters in each event from Under 8's upward will be selected to compete at The Regional Championships.
If an athlete nominates for an event at Zone as is selected to compete at The Regional Championships and subsequently at The State Championships, we expect they will make the commitment. The Regional Championships are generally held on the 3rd weekend of February and may involve travel and overnight stay and The State Championships are held of the 3rd weekend of March at the Homebush stadium. Awards will made based on the highest level at which an athlete competes.
